Navy Blue Accent Wall

When we were renovating our house we were on a mission to just get everything livable.  Now that we are comfortably settled in, I find myself coming up with ideas to make each space more interesting.  Seriously, I need help!! That brings me to the blue wall...

I had been speaking with a friend about redecorating her dining room and we were contemplating painting one of the walls navy blue.  As I was researching different shades of navy that would work for her, I quickly fell in love with the color and needed it in my house too!  I have often strayed away from dark paint colors because I think they can sometimes make spaces feel smaller.  With that said, I don't suggest using this color in a small bathroom or bedroom.  However, if you have a big space that has good lighting....GO FOR IT!!

Here is the before photo of my living room.

It's not bad at all and I had no problem with it...that was until I came up with the idea of painting the wall blue.  Story of my life.... This drives my husband crazy!  There are probably 100 better things I could do with my time but instead I want to paint a wall we've already painted!  Spoiler alert: He loves how it turned out and hasn't run away from me....yet.

Everyone has their own way of painting but if it's not something you've done much of or need a refresher, the link below from Shanty 2 Chic provides great instructions with pictures.

Here's the after photo with my new navy blue wall.

The color I used was Starless Night by Behr flat paint.  I love this color so much that I want to find somewhere else to paint it.  I'm trying to convince my sister, Kellee, to let me paint one of the walls in her living room but she isn't as impulsive as I am when it comes to home remodeling.  (I'll keep working on her though until she breaks!)

This whole project probably took me about 2 hours and that includes drying time.  I absolutely love how it turned out!  It really brings the whole room together.  So what are you waiting for?  Go find something to paint!!
